December auction at Expo 58 ART

We are accepting high-quality works of art for the most successful auction of modern and contemporary art in the Czech Republic, which will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Expo 58 ART.

The Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery auction house has once again confirmed that it is the leader of the Czech art auction market.

New world and artist records were set at Sunday's auction in the iconic Expo 58 ART building in Prague's Letna district.

One of Toyen's most important paintings ever, Mirage, 1967, from her post-war period, was sold for a record EUR 1 248 000, making it the second most expensive post-war art painting sold at auction in the Czech Republic since 1989.

A new world auction record was set by the Austrian impressionist painter Marie Egner, whose magnificent work Bright Spring Morning from 1894 was auctioned for an impressive EUR 2 240 000.

A new world auction record for the painter Otakar Kubin (Othon Coubine) was set at EUR 304 000 for an early work by the artist, Garden View from the artist's studio "Bouda".

Ladislav Sima's painting, Man with a Stick, went from a starting price of EUR 3 000 to an incredible EUR 89 600. This is a new world auction record for the artist.

Spala's Bouquet from 1936 was sold for EUR 72 600.

Jindrich Heisler's book of poems with illustrations by Toyen and Jindrich Styrsky, Nur die Turmfalken brunzen ruhig auf die 10 gebote, which was published in only forty copies, went up to a record price of EUR 16 000.

Among the contemporary artists, painting by Michael Rittstein, Pápěří (Night) was sold for above-standard price for EUR 26 600 and Geometric Composition by Stanislav Kolibal for EUR 32 000.

The charity auction of paintings for the benefit of the AutTalk Foundation of Katerina Sokolova, the Hagibor social home care and the Filip Venclik Foundation was also successful.

The success rate reached 90%.
