– Dr Vaclav Nebesky collection
– purchased in the 1930s by lawyer and collector JUDr. Frantisek Cerovsky, Kralovska trida 25, Prague X. for the price of 10,000 Czechoslovak crowns (verso old stamps “„Dra. Cerovsky Collection Prague“)
– confiscated by the Czechoslovak state at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s and included in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague (registration number  NG Praha O 9259)
– in 1992 restituted by the heirs of Dr Frantisek Cerovsky as part of the so-called out-of-court rehabilitation
– the painting was included in the auction by the family of Dr Frantisek Cerovsky

The painting La Maison Grise comes from the most important collection (together with the collection of Dr Vincenc Kramar) of pre-war Czechoslovakia. Works by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Raoul Dufy, Toyen and many other greats of world painting were represented in this collection.
