Provenance:
– The book comes from the collection of the significant Prague collector Bohuslav Dusek. Bohuslav Dusek, who worked his way up from a clerk to a procurator of the Zivnostenska banka, had been collecting art artefacts since he was young. He first collected books and manuscripts, and later became interested in fine art. His collection included many fine works by important artists such as Josef Manes, Josef Navratil, Antonin Chittussi, Bedrich Havranek, Jan Preisler and works by the old masters of Italian and Dutch painting. His collection was distinguished by its extent, quality and taste. He frequently visited art shops, antique stores and participated in domestic and foreign auctions. Bohuslav Dusek's art collection was supplemented by artistic crafts such as Czech glass, porcelain, rare textiles, faience and photographs.
