Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery in collaboration with Katara Cultural Village are pleased toannounce the opening of an exclusive exhibition of one of the most outstanding talents of the Contemporary art scene. Jan Gemrot's exhibition In the Realm of Falcons and Horses will present the artist´s current work and a site-specific visual installation created exclusively for the occasion of the Qatar International Festival. The exhibition will take place at the famous Qatar Cultural Village, Doha, Qatar and open to the public on Monday 3rd February 2025.

Jan Gemrot is on of the main representatives of Comtemporary Central European painting. His impressive and strongly executed works are rooted in realism, and pose fundamental questions about today’s world. They connect the artist’s personal visions of the rise and fall of human culture, the beginning and end of nature, culture, and the latest technology. Gemrot investigates the fate of a contemporary man, a fragile and ephemeral individual, involved in his originally depicted cosmological process, and in an environment that is both intimately familiar and alien at the same time. Gemrot’s technical execution is perfect and the profound themes he tackles draw the viewers in, inviting them to become a part of his paintings. Jan Gemrot views the planet Earth from a distance of many cosmic years and penetrates beneath the surface of faces he depicts to reveal their hidden desires and unfulfilled wishes.

The exhibition is split into three thematic parts. The first part presents the cycle "the dynamics of the horse and the speed of the falcon" and relates to the prestigious "International Arabian Horse Festival." This is a highlight of the Qatari’s cultural calendar and takes place concurrenrty to the exhibition and its immediate proximity. The second section of the exhibition is dedicated to the theme of "Intergrowth" and revolves around transformation of energy, transition from one form of existence to another, and the question of "memento mori" and eternity. Works from the "egos" series will also appear in the Exhibition Hall. These paintings combine figurative and landscape principles, with landscape becoming a reflection of one’s inner direction or a state of mind and as such a painter’s analytical portrait of the human psyche.

Jan Gemrot is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and other important Czech and global art collections. His exhibitions continue to shock and attract art critics, collectors, and the general public, and his works have become highly sought after by collectors and art institutions worldwide.

Jan Gemrot is exclusively represented by Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery, Prague.
