2x Differently: exhibition of paintings by Magdalena Cubrova and Zdena Safka

On January 16, 2026, the Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery will open a unique sales exhibition of two representatives of contemporary Czech painting, Magdalena Cubrova and Zdena Safka, in its exclusive Expo 58 ART exhibition hall.
The exhibition, entitled 2x Differently, will present their current work. Both born in Prague, Magdalena Cubrova (*1952) and Zdena Safka (*1953) are united and at the same time distinguished by their desire to understand perceived reality through a wide range of artistic techniques. While Magdalena studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, focusing on painting and monumental works for architecture, Zdena began her artistic career as a textile designer at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Both artists have developed many techniques and projects during their careers, but currently both are primarily engaged in painting.
Magdalena Cubrova was involved in performance art and happenings and was a member of the first Czech avant-garde women's art group, Koza Nostra. Over the years, she has created many works of art for architecture in various materials. Her dreamlike paintings are inspired by nature, architecture, experience, and observation. Similarly, Zdena Safka has shifted her focus from fashion collections and people to nature—to its harmony, which she discovers both in large entities and in small details. This opens up space for the viewer's own imagination and pure perception of the colors and shapes created by both artists.
Both artists are represented in important state and private collections. They have organized dozens of solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad and have also participated in many group exhibitions.
