On June 15, 2022, Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery will open an exclusive exhibition of one of the most outstanding talents of the Czech contemporary art scene at its new exhibition hall Expo 58 ART. The selling exhibition called Observations will present his latest work. Jan Gemrot, a visual artist and primarily a painter, is currently one of the leading figures of the Czech art scene. He belongs to the young generation of artists pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. Jan Gemrot is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and other important Czech and foreign collections. With his exhibitions, he shocks his audience, never failing to capture the attention of both professional and general public. Art collectors have found a special interest in his work.
The exhibition will be divided into three thematic parts. The first part presents the cycle "Egos". These paintings evoke a combination of figural and landscape principles, with the landscape becoming a reflection of the inner direction or disposition of a man, and the painter seeking an analytical portrait of the human psyche. The second section of the exhibition deals with the topic of "Ingrowth", which is related to the transformation of energy, the transition to another form of existence, and deals with the issue of memento mori and eternity. In the last part, Jan Gemrot focuses on images of military supersonic aircraft in moments of aerodynamic boom, the visual experience of the sound cone. These technical paintings contrast with the previous parts of the exhibition and, as a sudden dangerous event, disrupt feelings of contemplation, thus reflecting current world events.
The gallery publishes a new book on the occasion of the exhibition "Jan Gemrot - Observations", the author of which is the renowned art expert, historian and publicist Dr Karel Srp. The visually rich publication traces the individual cycles of the painter from the beginning of his work and documents his creative career to the present day.
