On July 3, 2020, the Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery opened an exclusive exhibition of one of the most outstanding talents of the contemporary art scene in its exhibition hall in Prague's Manes. The sales exhibition presented his latest work.
Hyperrealist, conceptual painter, visual artist, Jan Gemrot is currently the leading figure of the Czech art scene. He belongs to the young driving generation pushing the boundaries of modern art. He fully developed his artistic talent at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he excelled with his diploma thesis with the cycle "Kidnapping".
The exhibition was divided into three thematic parts. The first part presented a cycle of exploding sculptures and paintings of a falling pillar. These paintings were supposed to evoke a certain social catharsis and a symbol of change. The second section of the exhibition was devoted to three paintings working with the theme of space exploration. In the last part, Gemrot focused on figural images that affect existing social moods and phenomena such as isolation, anxiety and existential loneliness.
Since 2011, Jan Gemrot has been represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and in other important Czech and foreign collections. With his exhibitions, he shocks and at the same time attracts the attention of the professional and general public. There is a special interest in his work among collectors.
