Leading Czech Historian and Art Theorist, Pedagogue

From 1961 to 1992 he worked at the National Gallery in Prague, where he led the Collection of Modern Art for many years. Nowadays he teaches at the Department of Stage Design at DAMU, works in an advisory board of several state galleries and museums of the Czech Republic, and was a member of the first Czech Television Council. He has prepared many important exhibitions of Czech and foreign art, some of them abroad. He is a member of the Association of Critics of the Czech Republic and AICA. He has written several professional and fiction books. He is the greatest expert of Czech modern painting of the 20th century.
