Jan Gemrot (* 1983, Prague)

Jan Gemrot (*1983, Praha)

Jan Gemrot, one of the most outstanding talents of the contemporary art scene, joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague after finishing his third year of secondary art school, when he was granted an exception for his extraordinary talent. He studied in the studio of classical painting under Professor Zdeněk Beran. He graduated in 2008 with the controversial diploma thesis “Kidnapping”. His works are part of important domestic and foreign collections.

Gemrot excels in its hyperrealistic expression, which is sometimes interrupted by gesture painting or expressive manuscript. His work is a reference to today's society, examining the psychological aspects which he analyzes in detail. Gemrot is characterized by his absolute technical painting, great knowledge of working with colors and perfect drawing. He chooses critical and serious topics such as death, distress or love.

At present, the international public is very interested in Gemrot, for example with great success in Germany. He is one of the most sought after artists of the contemporary art scene and his paintings are among the best sold.
Jan Gemrot is exclusively represented by Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery.
