Jan Gemrot, one of the most outstanding talents in painting, entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague after his third year at the Secondary Art School, when he was granted an exception for his exceptional talent. He studied in the studio of classical painting under Professor Zdenek Beran. He graduated in 2008 with his controversial diploma thesis "Kidnapping / Abduction".
Painter and visual artist Jan Gemrot is currently one of the leading personalities of the Czech art scene. He belongs to the young driving generation pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. Jan Gemrot is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and in other important Czech and foreign collections. His exhibitions both shock and attract the attention of professionals and the general public. His work is of great interest to collectors, and his paintings are among the best-selling of all time.
In 2022, the Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery published a book: Jan Gemrot - Observation, authored by renowned art expert, historian and publicist Dr Karel Srp. The image-rich publication traces the individual cycles of the painter from the beginning of his career and documents his creative career up to the present day.
